It is called a hook-horned mountain goat because the horns come out vertically from the skull and bend inward like a hook towards the tip. Its tail is short. A black stripe runs on its back from the shoulder to the tail. There is a wide black band on the cheek from the corner of the mouth to the back of the eye.
